Without trust, common ground can get pretty shaky…

“I believe you have something of mine, Zach.”

The stranger’s accusation throws Zach Owens for a loop. He’s never seen this man in his life, and he’s not prepared when he finds out what they have in common—their boyfriend, Jake.

Make that ex-boyfriend. With the jerk out of the picture, Zach hurries after the stranger to apologize… which quickly leads to some sizzling hot revenge sex.

Despite starting on the wrong foot, Nathan Forrester can’t get enough of the sexy movie theater owner. Still, he’s jaded and distrustful—especially when Jake keeps materializing in Zach’s presence despite Zach insisting that relationship is over.

With a devious ex-boyfriend trying to sabotage their fledgling relationship, Zach and Nathan need to learn to trust each other, or they’ll both wind up with nothing.

This 61,000 word novel was previously published, and has been revised to include an extended ending.

3.75 out of 5 stars

Nine-Tenths of the Law is a revised expanded contemporary M/M romance originally published in 2010.

Zach and Nathan meet unexpectedly when Nathan confronts Zach in the middle of a club for cheating with his long term boyfriend, Jake. Zach is absolutely floored by this information and is upset that Nathan has been hurt by what has happened. Obviously Zach had no clue that Jake was in a relationship when they'd started to date six months ago. Zach is pissed at Jake and takes off after Nathan when he leaves the club, to both apologize and make sure that he is okay. This literally sparks off a rebound relationship between these two men.

Initially bonding through their shared ex-Jake, they gradually get to know each other, and as time goes on feelings develop. Or well they could but there are trust issues on Nathan's part, and Zach's job tends to keep him odd hours. This of course doesn't help Nathan's trust issues and that causes hurt feelings and other issues. Which makes this a rough relationship ride for both Nathan and Zach.

I will admit that the sexual attraction between Nathan and Zach is off the charts hot. The relationship aspect is rough and while there are some moments between them that are couple-y I almost feel like the driving force for most of the book is the sexual attraction. I didn't get feelings between them until almost the end of the book. I would have liked to see more relationship develop between them but Nathan's trust issues pushed a wedge between them that didn't allow for a ton of relationship to show through. That is one of those things that, for me, can make or break the story. While this didn't break the story, by any means since I did enjoy it, it just left me feeling a bit needy. In other words needing more of them as a couple vs a rebound.

Now don't use my opinion to color yours because what didn't work for me might totally work for you. That is the wonderful thing of being a reader, we all come at a story from different perspectives and get something totally different out of it than the next reader. I highly suggest giving the story a read for yourself for enjoyment because there are really good moments in the book. If you've ever read other books by this author you know her words are addicting and will draw you through the storyline till you reach the end. This book is no different you'll want to read it in one sitting and maybe even turn around and read it again... just in case you missed anything.

Definitely give Nine- Tenths of the Law a read.. just have something cold to drink nearby to cool you off after reading a few of the hotter scenes with Nathan and Zach.

Author Bio

L.A. Witt is an abnormal M/M romance writer who has finally been released from the purgatorial corn maze of Omaha, Nebraska, and now spends her time on the southwestern coast of Spain. In between wondering how she didn’t lose her mind in Omaha, she explores the country with her husband, several clairvoyant hamsters, and an ever-growing herd of rabid plot bunnies. She also has substantially more time on her hands these days, as she has recruited a small army of mercenaries to search South America for her nemesis, romance author Lauren Gallagher, but don’t tell Lauren. And definitely don’t tell Lori A. Witt or Ann Gallagher. Neither of those twits can keep their mouths shut…
